Chronic Yeast Infection, also known as chronic candidiasis, the chronic candida syndrome, and candida related complex, is the result of an overgrowth of the Candida fungus.  Over the past few decades it has garnered much attention.  The alternative medicine community has actively campaigned that Chronic Yeast Infection is responsible not just for the accepted forms of Candida overgrowth but also for a wide variety of health issues.

This fungus occurs naturally in the body’s mucus membranes such as the intestine.  Normally the growth of Candida is kept under control by naturally occurring bacteria.  Problems arise when this delicate balance is disrupted.  Then Candida can grow rapidly causing an overgrowth—the most commonly recognized result is what we refer to as yeast infection.

Traditionally these yeasts infections, ranging from Thrush to Vaginal yeast infections, to localized skin infections are viewed as separate issues, each with a separate treatment.  Chronic Yeast Infection considers these infections as well as a variety of other health issues to be linked to one underlying cause—overgrowth of the Candida fungus.   Rather then treat the individual symptoms, the most successful way to provide relief to sufferers is by treating the root cause—eliminating what allowed the uncontrolled growth of candida.

One of the challenges in do this is that Chronic Yeast Infection is a series of vague, sometimes seemingly unrelated symptoms. Many times routine blood tests do not reveal anything unusual in the body. This is generally because the cause of Chronic Yeast Infection -the candida fungus-is naturally present in the body. Doctors will usually treat the tangible symptoms of Chronic Yeast infection while ignoring the actual cause of the symptom.  In some cases the symptoms will subside only to flair up again later.  In other cases treatments are unsuccessful.  The sufferer continues to have problems.

Chronic Yeast Infection has been suggested to play a part in what is called leaky gut syndrome.  When yeast exists in malnourished conditions they can form cells which are elongated and attached at the ends allowing them to grow into different areas. When this happens in the intestine, it can cause a weakening of the intestinal wall.  This will allow undigested macromolecule food particles and toxins to pass into the body.  This condition will wreak havoc with the body’s immune system and causes it to react in many different ways.

Candida has also been found to produce 79 different toxins.  These toxins are thought to be responsible for the many different and sometimes seemingly unrelated symptoms that sufferers of Chronic Yeast Infection experience.

It is certain that there is still much to learn about Chronic Yeast Infection.  There are still many factors that are still unknown and research is still needed to really discern the extent of this complex disorder.  For now there are some holistic treatments for Chronic Yeast Infection available.  Many of these recommend a change in diet as a major way to control candida. Others favor immunotherapy or supplements of herbs and natural antifungal treatments.  There are also an overwhelming amount of suggestions that defy logic.  Many of these can be dangerous others might present no real danger but they also provide no lasting relief.  It is important to carefully examine both the claims and the methods of any suggestions that you are given.
